Whitehall Preparatory and Fitness Academy is proud to recognize Katelyn McCombs as its Teacher of the Year for her outstanding instructional leadership and commitment to student success.
“Katelyn McCombs embodies the mission and vision of Performance Academies,” said Principal Matt Dolan. While completing her PhD, Ms. McCombs led her fifth- grade scholars to strong academic outcomes, including a 76% proficiency rate in English Language Arts, 71% in Mathematics, and 62% in Science.
Mr. Dolan also highlighted Ms. McCombs’ impact beyond the classroom, noting that her “consistent leadership has guided the team at WPFA to ensure Quality Charter School status for the past three years by helping all teachers use data to drive their instruction.” Her leadership and results have led to her transition into the role of Assistant Principal at WPFA. “
Way to go Ms. McCombs on being named Teacher of the Year,” Dolan added.

Performance Academies fifth graders, teachers, parents and school leaders from our schools across Ohio are having a blast this week at our annual outdoor learning experience at Camp Kern. Today we woke up to a beautiful fall morning, enjoyed French toast and bacon for breakfast, took some amazing hikes, and traveled back in time to visit a one room school house, a blacksmith shop, and more! We saw turtle shells and learned about animals in Ohio, and we got to ring the dinner bell! We had a fun lunch, played lots of games, and headed out for more hiking, canoeing, and outdoor learning experiences before heading back to our cabins!
