Meet Our Principal

Dear ToPFA Families,

Welcome to Toledo Preparatory and Fitness Academy!  We are a top rated charter school in Toledo, Ohio who serves approximately 270 students.  Our mission is to prepare students for high school and beyond by providing a first rate academic and fitness program to develop students’ strong minds and strong bodies in grades kindergarten through eighth grade.  The Performance Academies program emphasizes math, reading, writing, science and citizenship, as well as tennis, soccer and sports psychology and physiology in an extended school day environment.  Our teachers, students, and families are goal focused, thank you!

Our educational philosophy is to be among the most desirable elementary/middle schools in the region, recognized both locally and nationally, by high-achieving school and fitness programs and for developing outstanding youth who achieve academic and fitness excellence.

We offer an extended school day beginning at 8:00 AM and dismissing at 4:00 PM. Our students receive 2 hours of ELA instruction, 1.5 hours of math instruction, 1 hour of social studies and science instruction, 45 minutes of Character Education, and 1 hour of fitness instruction daily. We also provide free breakfast and lunch to all of our students every day.

During the school year students will have an opportunity to complete their homework, participate in monthly themed activities, as well as participate in gross motor skill activities.  

We have 5 core principles for our students to follow.  We expect them to strive for academic excellence, strive for fitness excellence, inspire teamwork, uphold moral and ethical principles, and encourage their spirit.

Along with the core principles, we also have “non-negotiables” for our families to follow:

  • Be to school on time – every day!! School begins at 8:00 AM.  Any arrival time later will be counted as tardy!
  • Learning takes place ALL day! Please refrain from early pick-ups, unless you have an absolute emergency.
  • Make sure you are in FULL uniform, and adhere to the dress code at all times.
  • Cell phones and other electronic devices will be collected each morning turned off and returned to students at the conclusion of the day as part of our NO CELL PHONE and ELECTRONICS Policy. 
  • Make sure you are following our ten simple Successful School-Wide Behaviors at ALL times!
    • Work quietly
    • Raise your hand
    • Keep hands and feet to self
    • Remain quiet in hallways
    • Remain quiet during transitions
    • Get ready for class promptly
    • Accept feedback without talking back
    • Be kind: keep negative comments to self
    • Complete and turn in ALL homework
    • Wear uniform

 

All students are very excited for the opportunity to earn Dragon Dollars for following these successful school behaviors, and they are aware of the Code of Conduct consequences that must follow in the event that any rules are broken. With your help and support, we can all work to make this the most successful school year for our children – the leaders of tomorrow!
